Sublimation Transfers

Sublimation transfers must be pressed with a heat press. An iron will NOT work.

Garment:
At least 50% polyester, 100% polyester is best for the brightest colors. Also, the garments must be light in color…preferably white!

Heat Press Settings:
Medium Pressure – 380 degrees – 45 seconds

Instructions:
1. Place a teflon sheet inside the shirt to prevent color bleeding to the back of the shirt.
2. Align shirt on the press and use a lint roller to remove any fuzz or lint. Pre-press for 10-15 seconds to remove any wrinkles.
3. Align sublimation transfer on the shirt (use heat tape to keep it in place if you’d like) and place another teflon sheet between the shirt and the press. This will prevent any colors from getting on your press and other garments.
4. Close press and press using your preferred settings (or the settings above).
5. Carefully open press and remove transfer, being careful not to move the transfer. If you get a hazy look, it’s usually because the transfer moved when opening the press or removing it from the garment.

Tumbler Transfers

Mug Press
Remove lid before pressing! For best results, always pre-heat your press.
Temperature: 380°F
Time: 60 seconds
Pressure: Medium-Firm
Peel: Hot

Convection Oven
Note: Because not all ovens are created equally the time in an oven can range from 6-9 minutes. Settings will vary depending on the oven brand and atmospheric conditions. We suggest using an oven thermometer to test oven for accuracy.

Oven settings:

  • temperature – 380 degrees F
  • dwell time – 6.5 to 8.5 minutes
  • Pressure – light to medium

STEPS:

1. Trim the transfer so the edges barely meet. This will give you a more seamless look. Position transfer onto the substrate using heat tape to secure the transfer to the substrate. Place heat tape on the top, bottom, and seam.

2. Use a shrink sleeve or masking tape to tightly secure the transfer around the tumbler. This will act as your pressure!

3. Pull from oven and remove wrap and paper. CAUTION contents will be hot!!! Use heat resistant gloves for safety.

Tips:

– If the image of the final product appears light, increase the pressure or the time slightly (30-45 seconds).

– If the image on the final product appears blurred or substrate appears yellowed or has brown spots reduce the time slightly (30-45 seconds).
